A man and his son went missing after a cargo trawler capsized in the Meghna River in Rajapur union of Bhola Sadar upazila of Bhola late on Sunday.
The two missing persons are Razzaq Sardar and his son Parvez Sardar, Ilisha river police station Inspector Bidyut Kumar Ghosh told Dhaka Tribune on Monday morning.
The inspector said the trawler was carrying goods from Manpura to Mehendiganj in Barisal when it capsized due to the strong currents of the Meghna.
Meanwhile, five people were rescued with the help of another fishing trawler.
All the rescued and missing persons are residents of Mehendiganj, the police officer said.
The River Police and the fire service could not start their rescue operations at night due the weather conditions, he said, adding that they were scheduled to start their work at 10:30am.
