Local people vandalized a bus and blocked a road in Gazipur Sadar Upazila on Saturday evening centring on the death of a four-year boy in Gopalganj on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Alamin Chowdhury.
The accident took place on Gopalganj-Kotalipara road in Khanapar area of the upazila.
Gopalganj Sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Anisur Rahman confirmed the incident.
The police official said that when the child was going to Kathi Bazar with his father Tariqul Chowdhury, a “Rajib Paribahan” bus headed to Kotalipara ran over him, leaving the boy dead on spot.
Agitated by the incident, the mob seized the bus from Dattadanga area and vandalized it extensively and blocked the road by throwing tree trunks on the Gopalganj-Kotalipara road.
After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and assured justice.
Later, the villagers cleared the road.
”On behalf of the family’s request, the body had been handed over to the family without autopsy,” said the OC.
