2 tourists killed, 12 injured in Bandarban road crash

Two women were killed and twelve tourists injured after a tourist jeep fell into a deep gorge at Keokradong of Ruma Upazila in Bandarban district on Saturday morning.

The deceased are Zoynab Khatun, 24, a Master's student, and Firoza Begum, 50, from Dhaka.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin said that a group of 58 people from Dhaka went to Boga lake in five jeeps on Friday morning. While returning from Boga lake to Keokradong on Saturday, a jeep lost control and fell into a gorge in the Darjeeling area of the Boga lake-Keokradong route, killing two tourists and injuring twelve.

Out of the twelve injured, seven are female tourists. Of them, three are in critical condition.

The identities of the injured remain unknown.

After the incident, army personnel and fire service promptly rescued the injured and provided primary treatment at Ruma Upazila Health Complex.

Ruma Upazila Medical Officer Tanmoy said that two people were killed, and the critically injured were sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
