Chuadanga experienced a significant disruption in daily life on Thursday, as rainfall amidst an ongoing cold wave affected the area. The unexpected weather conditions intensified the hardships already faced by the residents due to the cold.
The district witnessed rain in the morning, which lasted for approximately two and a half hours, exacerbating the impact of the cold wave and paralyzing normal activities.
Tahmina Nasrin Anny, an officer at the Chuadanga Observatory Center, reported that the temperature dropped to 11.5 °C between 6am and 9am, with humidity levels reaching 92%.
The rainfall began around 5:45am and continued until about 8:10am, with a total of 19.4mm of rain recorded during this period. The adverse weather led to a noticeable decrease in outdoor activities, as many residents chose to stay indoors rather than face the inclement conditions.
The situation was particularly challenging for daily wage earners like Abdul Majid, who expressed distress over the lack of job opportunities due to the weather. Additionally, workers faced difficulties commuting to their workplaces amid the rain.
This unusual combination of cold waves and rainfall brought unexpected challenges to the people of Chuadanga, impacting their livelihoods and daily routines.
