Ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route on the Padma River remained suspended for six hours on Thursday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Abdus Salam, manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at the Aricha point, said the services were suspended at 3am owing to poor visibility.
The authorities resumed the services at 9:30am when visibility improved.
Four ferries — Hamidur Rahman, Banalata, Bir Shreshtha Jahangir and Hasna Hena — were stranded in the middle of the Padma River while ten ferries were anchored at the ferry terminal.
Over 350 vehicles including goods-carrying ones were stranded at the terminals following the suspension of services.
