Authorities have withdrawn Tangail's Gopalpur police station Officer-in-Charge Ziaul Morshed and attached him to the district police lines just three days before the 12th national election following the directives of the Election Commission.
Tangail Election Officer Matiur Rahman confirmed the information on Friday.
The Election Commission, in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mizanur Rahman, ordered the withrwawal of the OC in order to ensure a fair and impartial election and assigning of another officer to the station.
Independent candidate Yunus Islam Talukdar Thandu of Tangail-2 (Gopalpur-Bhuapur) had lodged several written complaints against the OC to the Election Commission.
