Two Rohingya men shot dead in Cox's Bazar camps

Two Rohingya men have been killed in two separate camps in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar, reportedly over establishing dominance in the area.

A Rohingya youth was shot dead at a refugee camp on Thursday morning.

According to sources, Abdullah, 23, was called out by a small group of armed men at around 5am. They then shot Abdullah to death and fled the area.

After receiving the information, police went to the spot and recovered his body.

The police’s primary investigation revealed that establishing dominance in the camp was the reason behind the murder.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamim Hossain said: “The body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The OC said additional forces have been deployed in the camp, adding that the police are trying to find out more information about the incident.

Meanwhile, another Rohingya man, Nadir Hossain, 39, was shot dead in another camp in the same upazila, according to media reports.

Nadir was a Rohingya community leader, colloquially referred to as a "majhi."
