One person was killed in a fight over the management of election camp of independent candidate Aminul Haque Shamim in Konapara village of Mymensingh Sadar around 11pm on Tuesday.
Locals said that Rafiqul, 35, engaged in a dispute with his nephew Raju, Saju, and younger uncle Farooq regarding the installation of the awning at the election camp of Amirul Haque Shamim, the vice-president of Konapara village district in Sirta Union and an independent candidate in the election. The argument escalated into a physical altercation.
At that time Rafiqul was seriously injured and the doctor declared him dead after admitting him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Mymensingh Kotwali Model police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Mainuddin said that the body has been kept at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
However, no one has been arrested in this incident yet. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
