Two Bangladeshis killed by BSF along Thakurgaon border

At least two Bangladeshi nationals were killed, and one other was injured allegedly the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Thakurgaon border on Monday. 

The deceased have been identified as Mokles, 28 and Zahirul Islam, 25. Both of them were residents of the district’s Haripur upazila. 

The matter was confirmed by Haripur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ABM Firoz Wahid and Kathaldangi BOP Company Commander Entazul Haque. 

OC Firoz said they found Mokles’ body floating in the Shirani River and sent it for autopsy. 

On the other hand, Entazul Haque, Kathaldangi BOP company commander, said Zahirul was shot near the border. He was taken to an Indian hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

His body is still in India, he added.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Iddis was allegedly shot and injured by BSF firing. 

However, when asked about the matter, Ratnai Camp Commander Hannan said: "After inquiring with his family and BSF camp, we could not verify the incident.”

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Thakurgaon Sector Commander Colonel MH Hafizur Rahman said that two Bangladeshis were killed in BSF firing along the border. “A flag meeting was held with the BSF in this regard. After completing the process, the BSF will return the body of the youth in India soon.”
