A death row prisoner died while receiving medical care at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur early on Friday.
Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan, 70, hailing from Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj was imprisoned at Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in the district.
Rafiqul Islam, resident medical officer at the hospital, said Zahirul was brought there on Friday night after he complained of chest pain.
Senior Jail Superintendent Subrata Kumar Bala said his body will be handed over to his family following legal procedures.
Zahirul was sentenced to death in a case filed at Araihazar police station.
