Four traders were fined Tk4,000 for selling beef at a higher price in Naogaon on Wednesday.
Besides, a vegetable trader was fined Tk500 for not displaying the price list.
The fine was imposed by the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) during a raid in a kitchen market in Naogaon district town.
Rubel Ahmed, assistant director of DNCRP, led the raid.
Rubel Ahmed said: “Beef is being sold at Tk550 to Tk600 per kg across the country. But they were selling beef at a price of Tk650 to 700 per kg.”
Other concerned officials were present during the campaign.
