The rail communication between Dhaka and the northern parts of the country has been restored after nine hours of suspension due to a derailment in Tangail.
The rail communication resumed around 2pm on Tuesday.
At 10:30am, a rescue train from Dhaka came to the aid of the derailing carriage of the Rangpur Express train. The rescue effort had to be halted due to a crane malfunction on the rescue train. Eventually, manually derailed The carriage and wheels of the train are raised above the rail line.
Earlier, a compartment of the train derailed in Gharinda railway station area at about 4:40am on Tuesday. As a result, Dhaka's rail communication with the northern regions of the country remained suspended.
Tangail Railway Station Master Nazmul Huda Bakul said that the first compartment of the Rangpur Express train, which was transporting passenger luggages derailed.
