BNP hartal: 3 vehicles torched in Rajshahi division

A group of unidentified miscreants torched two buses and one pickup truck in Rajshahi Division on Sunday amid BNP’s countrywide 2-day hartal.

The law enforcement agencies detained two people in this connection.

They are Dollar, 35, a BNP activist, and Masud Rana, 45, former Chhatra Dal leader.

In Rajshahi, four men on two motorcycles hurled petrol bombs at the moving bus full of passengers in the evening in Godagari upazila.

Godagari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Matin the bus named Shimu Noortaz Paribahan was going to Chapainawabganj from Rajshahi with 40 passengers. However, there was no casualty.

After receiving information, fire service personnel brought the fire under control in the bus. 

Police detained a man named Dollar from the scene.

In Natore, a group of unknown miscreants arrived on motorcycles, filled a parked bus with gasoline, and set it on fire at the intersection of Bhavaniganj and Bogra terminal in the city of Natore.

When the locals noticed it, they notified the Police and Fire Service. Afterwards, a Fire Service unit arrived and put out the fire.

Natore Sadar Police Station OC Nashim Ahmed said that the police have started work to identify the miscreants after scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the area.

In Joypurhat, miscreants set a pickup van on fire in Binshira area on Saturday night.

Locals saw a pickup van on fire on the road and informed the fire service and police. 

Police, RAB and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

Joypurhat Sadar police station OC Md Humayun Kabir said that the police quickly went to the spot and extinguished the fire after receiving the information that the pickup van was set on fire. 

In this incident RAB detained an ex-Chhatra Dal leader and BNP activist named Masud Rana.
