Seven young men sustained burn injuries in a gas leak explosion at Hijla of Amin Bazar in Savar on Friday night.
The injured are Md Raihan, 20, Md Harris, 20, Md Nahid, 20, Md Jewel, 22, Md Monarul, 19, Md Al-Amin ,22 and Md Rubel, 25. They all live in a rented house.
The explosion took place at about 9pm while the victims were gossiping in the room and one of them lit a fire for lighting a cigarette.
He said that the gas line next to that room was repaired two days ago. The room was also closed for the entire day. As a result, gas accumulated in the room.The explosion occurred as a result of contact with fire.
Local people rescued them and took them to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Savar Model Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Milon said that the condition of two injured was critical.
