Khulna wears festive look to welcome PM Hasina Monday

Streets and important points of Khulna city have been adorned with banners, festoons, and digital displays to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is set to address a public rally on Monday.

The premier will inaugurate 22 development projects at Khulna’s Circuit House field with a likely turnout of hundreds and thousands of people.

She is scheduled to address the public meeting at the Khulna Circuit House grounds at 2pm.

A total of 20 digital screens are being installed in the metropolis around the public rally area so people can see Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivering her speech. Enthusiasm is seen among party activists and ordinary people.

Apart from that, extensive preparations have been made to ensure the success of this rally, including mike setups, poster displays, placards, billboards, pylon construction, lighting, and campaigning. A festive atmosphere has been created throughout the city and security measures have been beefed up.

Khulna Metropolitan unit Awami League General Secretary MDA Babul Rana said: "We are working to transform the entire city into a sea of people with a presence of over 10,00,000 individuals. Ensuring citizen safety is a priority, and for this reason, 20 digital screens are being set up at key locations, including Shibbari, Haji Mohsin Road, and Customs Ghat. This way, people can enjoy seeing and hearing the prime minister directly from these places."

Awami League leaders mentioned that miking is underway across the entire city, and various promotional materials such as posters, billboards, and placards have been displayed. 

Metropolitan Awami League President and City Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khalek said: "On the meeting day, women workers will be at the circuit house ground, while male activists will be on the roads around the ground.”

He said: "Five ferries are being provided at Rupsa Ghat. The bus carrying women workers will come to the city's new market. Besides, three to four ferries are being provided at Jailkhana Ghat. A special train will come to Khulna for activists from Chuadanga Meherpur, Kushtia and Jhenaidah."

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mozammel Haque said: "Police will be present both in uniform and plain clothes at the rally. CCTV cameras are installed in and around the circuit house grounds. The entire city will have security coverage, ensuring the safety of people attending and leaving the rally. We are taking adequate security measures for that purpose."
