Autorickshaw torched in Bogra during BNP blockade

Picketers intercepted a CNG-powered autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in the Baropur Jhopgari area of Bogra and poured petrol on it before setting it ablaze on Wednesday morning, during a nationwide blockade initiated by the BNP.

Later, police and locals rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

Meanwhile, the autorickshaw driver, Rafiqul Islam, sustained minor injuries when the protesters detonated crude bombs and hurled brickbats in the area.

Rafiqul said: “They vandalized the autorickshaw and poured petrol on it to light a fire.”

He demanded compensation and exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.

Bogra Additional Superintendent of Police Snigdho Akhtar said the attackers would be identified and brought under the law.
