On the first day of the blockade called by BNP-Jamaat and like-minded parties on Tuesday, a Dhaka court ordered the jailing of 183 suspects, including BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists, arrested from Dhaka.
Out of this, 169 people were arrested from 50 police station areas of Dhaka metropolitan area and 14 activists from six police station areas of Dhaka district.
Among those who went to jail are suspects besides BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists. Sources of the GR branch of various police stations have confirmed this information in the court.
According to the information received from the general registration branch of various police stations in Dhaka on Tuesday, 23 people from Kadmatoli police station area, 18 people from Demra police station area, 10 people from Jatrabari police station, and 16 people from Gendaria police station were sent to jail through the court.
Besides, one from Uttara West police station, three from Dhanmondi police station, five from Shyampur police station, seven from Kotwali police station, seven from Banshal police station, four from Lalbagh police station, three from Chawkbazar police station, five from Kamrangirchar police station, five from Banani police station, four from Badda police station, three from Bhatara police station, seven from Paltan police station, one from Shajahanpur police station, six from Kafrul police station, one from Vasantek police station, one from Pallabi police station, five from Rupnagar police station, 14 from Ramna police station, 11 from Wari police station, five from Adabar police station, three from Hatirjheel police station, and one person arrested from Mirpur police station area have been sent to jail.
On this day, 14 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists were arrested from some police stations under Dhaka district apart from Dhaka city and sent to jail. Among the arrested leaders and activists are four people from Keraniganj Model police station, one person from South Keraniganj police station, one person from Savar police station and eight people from Dhamrai police station.
