BNP does not consider anyone minority, BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu has said.
“Was the person who ordered the attack was elected by votes? They were not. So, they don’t need you (citizens) as well. However, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party does not consider anyone as a minority. Everyone is equal to us,” he said.
He made the comments on Saturday while visiting the spot where the student wings of the Awami League allegedly assaulted a protest rally of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council a few days ago.
A BNP delegation later met the injured activists of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council.
On October 4 and 10, a controversy spread over the comments of Comilla-6 MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar about conducting a “liquor-free Durga Puja.”
In view of this, a statement signed by Mihir Ranjan Hawlader, office secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council on October 8, condemned his statement.
Later, on October 13, activists of the Jubo League and Chhatra League attacked the Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad rally in Comilla. Several people were injured in the attack.
On October 17, BNP formed a probe committee to investigate the incident. The committee has been asked to submit a report within seven days.
