Journalist assaulted in Jhenaidah

A district correspondent of Channel 24 has allegedly been assaulted by some miscreants over enmity in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa upazila. 

The attack took place at Garaganj market in Shailkupa upazila around 10pm on Thursday.

His house was also vandalized.

The injured journalist is Saddam Hussain. He is undergoing treatment at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.

Locals said that Saddam Hussain was going to his village around 10pm. When he reached Garaganj market, Biplab Hossain and his uncle Feroz Hossain, attacked him over previous enmity. 

Later, Saddam's family members rescued him and admitted him to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.

Locals said Shailkupa Upazila Jubo League President Shamim Hossain Mollah ordered his supporters to attack Saddam's house.

His relatives said that Biplab Hossain of Garaganj area used to post against Saddam Hossain. Later, in July this year, police identified Biplab and arrested him.

Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shailkupa police station said that a team of police was sent to the spot after receiving the information. Further legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed.
