Nine people were injured in a generator explosion at a CNG filling station in Sylhet's Mirabazar area.
Three of them are reported to be in critical condition.
Five of the injured are employees of the CNG pump. The other four are pedestrians.
The injured were identified as Ripon, 34, Lutfur, 32, Rumel, 28, Minhaj, 27, Badal Das, 42, Rasimal, 18, Ruman, 23, Tarek, 30, and Muhin, 45.
According to eyewitnesses, police and fire service sources, around 7pm, a safety bulb in the filling station's compressor room exploded with a loud bang. At that time, the surrounding equipment including the compressor machine caught fire.
Belal Ahmad, senior station manager of Sylhet Fire Service, said that two units of fire service were able to bring the fire under control in 10-15 minutes. The amount of damage was needed to be investigated.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh (PPM) said that the nine injured have been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
