Natore-4 MP Abdul Quddus passes away

Md Abdul Quddus, the Awami League lawmaker representing Natore-4, died at a hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday aged 77.

Quddus, president of Natore Awami League, breathed his last at 7:22am at the intensive care unit (ICU) of United Hospital, said Shariful Islam Ramjan, general secretary of the same unit.

He leaves behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

Earlier on Saturday, the Awami League leader fell ill and was brought to Dhaka.

He had been suffering from age-related diseases, including respiratory problems.

Quddus, a freedom fighter, was elected MP from the Natore-4 constituency five times.

The late politician will be buried at his family graveyard on Thursday following a series of funeral prayers both in Dhaka and his hometown.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin expressed deep shock and sorrow at his death. In a condolence message, the head of state prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed her condolences on the death of the lawmaker.
