Awami League Presidium Member Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque on Friday said BNP has to oust the ruling party by participating in the elections.
He made the remarks while exchanging views with reporters after planting palm saplings in Sohagpur of Mirzapur upazila in the district.
They will not be able to bring down the Awami League no matter how much agitation and terrorism they do, said Abdur Razzaque, also agriculture minister.
There is no other option without participating in the elections, said the minister.
BNP does not have the strength to oust the Awami League through movement.
The minister urged BNP to take part in the upcoming elections so that the polls could be held in a free, fair and impartial manner.
"We want to see whether the people of this country are with the pro-people leader Sheikh Hasina, whether they are confident in the ideals of Bangabandhu," he added.
He firmly believed that Awami League has won the trust of the people by running the country continuously for the past 15 years.
Local lawmaker Khan Ahmed Shuvo, Mirzapur Upazila unit Awami League President Mir Sharif, general secretary and local leaders and activists were present on the occasion.
