Police on Monday recovered the body of an Awami League leader, with his hands and feet tied from behind, from a residential hotel in Cox's Bazar.
The deceased has been identified as Saif Uddin, 45, information and research affairs secretary of Cox's Bazar Municipal unit Awami League.
The body of the leader was found in a room at “Hotel Sunmoon” at around 10am.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station Rafiqul Islam said the hotel authorities informed them after seeing the body.
“It was not immediately clear who killed him. We are still collecting evidence. A CID team has arrived at the scene,” the OC said.
Further details would be revealed after investigation, he added.
