New school-feeding program to launch in 150 upazilas soon

Primary and Mass Education Ministry Secretary Farid Ahmed has announced that a new school-feeding program is set to start soon in 150 upazilas across the country.

The secretary made the announcement on Saturday at a workshop at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar, a press release by the ministry said.  

Highlighting the benefits of the new program, Farid Ahmed said this time, children will be served nutritious biscuits along with different kinds of foods which attract them.

"These foods will play a special role in meeting the needs of children and building the body," he added.

The secretary also said that by introducing the school feeding programme, dropouts in primary education will be prevented and school enrollment will increase.

Thus, he hoped, the launch of the new school feeding programme will reflect the government's commitment to ensure quality primary education.
