Bandarban-Thanchi road communication has been restored following a halt due to a landslide, thanks to joint efforts by the army and the fire service.
The landslide took place on the Bandarban-Thanchi road between Nilgiri and Jiban Nagar on Friday morning.
Thanchi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abul Mansur confirmed the matter.
Quoting locals, the UNO earlier said: "A large stone fell onto the road between Nilgiri and Jiban Nagar on the Bandarban-Thanchi road. This severed road connectivity with Thanchi."
"A team from the Thanchi fire service began attempts to remove the stone in the morning."
However, their efforts were unsuccessful due to a lack of equipment. The army is currently engaged in the process of removing the obstruction. It is expected that road connectivity will be fully restored by the afternoon.
