A mild heat wave is sweeping parts of the country including Dhaka.
“It is sweeping Rajshahi, Sylhet divisions, Dhaka, Tangail, Madaripur, Rangpur, Netrakona, Rangamati, Comilla, Feni, Jessore and Kushtia districts and it may abate from some places,” said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday.
The country's highest temperature was recorded at 37°C in Feni and Rangpur districts on Sunday while Dhaka's temperature was recorded at 36.7°C.
The BMD also forecast light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at most places over Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions; at many places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.
It also predicted that rainfall may increase during the period.
The low-pressure area over the Gangetic West Bengal coast & adjoining area has intensified into a well-marked low over the central part of North Bay and the adjoining area.
The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, center of the well-marked low to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh, said the bulletin.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
