5 to walk gallows for killing youth in Gazipur

A Gazipur court has sentenced five people to death for killing a youth in Brahmangaon village of the district in 2008. The death row convicts are- Shamim Hossain, Nurul Islam, Saddam Hossain, Shafiqul and Babu. Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan passed the order on Wednesday afternoon. Two of the convicts- Saddam and Babu were present in the court during verdict, while others were fugitives. The court also fined them Tk10,000 each. The judge ordered them to serve three more years and fined them Tk5,000 each in another charge. Assistant Public Prosecutor Mokbul Hossain Bhuiyan said Mohiuddin, 15, son of Fazlur Rahman of Brahmangaon village went out of home getting a phone call on October 16 in 2008. His body was found in a wetland next day. The victim’s father filed a murder case the following day, the police officer added.
