Teen loses wrist while making bomb following YouTube video

The left wrist of a young man blew away in an explosion while making a crude bomb along with his friend following a YouTube video at Sonagazi in Feni on Thursday night.

The injured is Abdullah Al Noman, 19, a resident of Samapur village of Mangalkandi union in the upazila.

The police arrested the main accused in this connection. The arrested is Abdul Aziz, 21, a resident of Arkaim village in Bagadana union.

Sonagazi Model police station Sub-Inspector Kamal Uddin, lodged a case, accusing five individuals, including the two youths.

Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Khaled Hossain Dayan said that the incident took place in a house located in Arkaim village, within Sonagazi's Bogdana union, on Thursday night.

However, Ruhul Amin, injured Abdul Aziz's father, denied the allegations, saying: "My son and his friend, Abdullah Al Noman, did not attempt to make a bomb by watching YouTube. Some locals are fabricating various stories to implicate and harass them."

He further explained: "Aziz and Noman spotted a round ball-shaped object wrapped in red tape outside the house while they were playing on Thursday evening. Noman brought the object to the house assuming it was a ball and kept it near the window. Later, it exploded, severing his wrist. We promptly rescued Noman and took him to the hospital, and Aziz sustained minor injuries as well."

According to the police and local residents, Noman had visited his maternal grandfather's house, where he was making bombs around 8pm that night while watching YouTube videos. His left wrist was blown away following the blast.  Local residents rushed him to Feni General Hospital.

Later, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

On receiving the information, the police visited the spot and recovered the bomb-making materials.
