At least two people died in separate incidents of violence after the voting in UP polls ended on Sunday.
Moreover, five others were injured as police fired gunshots to stem clashes at two polling centres of Bhuapur in Tangail.
In Thakurgaon, a man died in police firing when two groups of people were fighting over the announcement of UP election results on Sunday evening.
The incident took place when the followers of two member candidates engaged in a clash at Dakkhin Asan Nagar Government Primary School centre under Rajagaon Union of the Sadar Upazila around 7:30pm.
Police recovered the body and kept it at Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
District Superintendent of Police Md Jahangir Hossain confirmed the death of Hamidul. Details about the deceased could not be known immediately.
“A group of people obstructed officials from performing the government duties of declaring the election results. Later, one person died when the police opened fire on order of the presiding officer,” he told Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier in the day, a woman and her father were detained for trying to snatch ballot papers at Jhargaon Rahmania Dakhil Madrasa centre for the polls to Akhanagar UP.

When the situation heated up, some unknown people fired at least 15 rounds of blanks, leaving one person injured.
Another person died from gunshot wounds he sustained in a clash between the police and villagers in Phulbari Union under Golapganj Upazila in Sylhet on Sunday night.
The clash ensued after the supporters of Jamaat-e-Islam leader Emran Hossain blocked Jakiganj-Sylhet highway at Boitikor Bazar around 8pm, in protest against the election results in wards 8 and 9.
Police fired bullets and tear gas shells to disperse the protesters, resulting in the injury of Abdus Salam, 50. He is a motor mechanic at the Boitikor Bazar.
Five other police officials including an inspector were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where Salam died around 10:30pm, Sub-Inspector Johny Chowdhury confirmed to Dhaka Tribune.
Locals sources say around 50 people were injured during the clash at Boitikor Bazar.
In Tangail, the supporters of a chairman candidate attacked on magistrates at Ramsundor High School centre under Pholda Union of Bhuapur for punishing two activists as they cast fake votes.
Executive Magistrate Salahuddin Aiyubi captured the duo when they were stamping ballot papers with the help of Presiding Officer Arif Mohammad Yusuf.
One of the duo is Delwar – cousin of independent candidate Akbar Hossain. He was injured while trying to flee the scene. The other detainee was fined Tk2,000.
Following the incident, the supporters of Akbar Hossain obstructed the judicial and executive magistrates from leaving the centre. When the magistrates entered the centre again with the help of law enforcers, the activists locked the gate of the school.
Later, members of Rapid Action Battalion and Bhaupur police opened fire to disperse the activists.
The number of injured persons could not be known immediately.
Meanwhile, five people were injured when police opened fire on people during a clash at Char Chadni Government Primary School centre under Gabsara Union of the upazila.
Bhuapur police OC Abdul Wahab said that the law enforcers had fired blank shots to tackle the situation at two centres.
