A case has been started over the discovery of three dead people and a critically injured five-year-old at a Tangail home on Saturday.
Sumi Begum, 30, her mother-in-law Jamela Begum, 65, and Shahjalal, 25, were found dead at a house in Ghatail upazila’s Dighar union.
Her five-year-old son was also found with sharp weapon wounds at the scene and now is being treated at a local hospital.
Sumi was married to Joyen Uddin, a migrant expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia.
Joyen’s sister-in-law Shahnaz Begum started a case late on Saturday, said Ghatail police station OC Azharul Islam Sarker.
Police said on Saturday that they suspect it to be a case of a murder suicide.
According to them, Shahjalal stabbed Sumi and Jamila to death and then killed himself with the same weapon sometime during Friday night.

“There are multiple wounds on Sumi and Jamila’s bodies that were caused by a sharp weapon and a blunt weapon. On the other hand, Shahjalal had only one stabbing wound on his chest,” Tangail’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarker Md Kaisar told local reporters.
“Sumi and Shahjalal most probably had an extramarital affair after Joyen went abroad. We think Shahjalal went to Sumi’s home [on Friday night] to ask her to leave with him.
“He may have killed Sumi and Jamela after Sumi rejected his offer. Because our preliminary sweep did not find evidence of any other person entering the house,” SP Kaisar added.
However, Shahjalal’s family claims that Sumi had married Shahjalal and lived together for six months. Later, Sumi’s father took her back home saying he was ill and then sent her back to her previous husband’s house.
They alleged that the people of the area had called and killed Shahjalal.
