Customs officials at the Sylhet airport have detained four people in possession of 11kg of gold, with an estimated market value of Tk7 crore.
Deputy Commissioner Al Amin Mahmoud Ashraf said the precious yellow metal was found on the passengers, who arrived from Dubai on Monday morning.
A total of 11kg 200 grams of gold were found in their luggages, he said before adding it was smelted into several appliances, including an iron and a blender.
The detainees have been identified as Md Jahid, Makbul Ali, Bashir Uddin and Sultan Mahmud.
