Sleeping couple killed as truck crashes into their Jamalpur home

A couple have been killed while sleeping after a truck crashed into their home in Jamalpur on Monday. 

The incident was reported around 3am at Dangdhara union of Dewanganj upazila.

The deceased have been identified as Joynal, 45, and Hasina Begum, 36.

Locals said Joynal and Hasina were asleep when the truck lost control and crashed into their home. The couple’s two children who were sleeping on another bed in the same room were not harmed.

The driver reportedly fled the scene when residents were alerted by the loud noise and surrounded the house.

Officer-in-Charge Zobayer Hossain Khan of Sananda Bari police outpost said the truck overturned after it struck the couple’s home.
