Fire erupts at Rangpur Medical College Hospital

A fire broke out in the Rangpur Medical College Hospital’s main building on Monday.

Fire service officials said that the blaze, which was reported around 10.30am, was brought under control by 20 minutes.

“Flames erupted at the ENT (ear, nose and threat) ward on the third floor of the hospital’s main building. Four firefighting units rushed to the spot soon after,” said Afazalur Rahman, a senior official of the local fire service told Bangla Tribune.

No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire was yet to be confirmed, he added.

Worried friends and relatives of the patients had flocked to the building.

“We were giving out medicine to the patients, when, all of a sudden, we saw fire and smoke coming from the eastern balcony,” Senior Nurse Shameema Nasrin told an online newspape
