2 members of human trafficking ring arrested in Narayanganj

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two members of an international human trafficking ring from Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.

Anowara Begum, 67, of Narayanganj and Sentu Kumar Datta, 45 of Comilla, were arrested from Tatkhana area on Sunday.

RAB-11 ASP Rizwan Saeed confirmed the matter at 7pm on Monday.

He said: “Both of the arrestees are active members of an international human trafficking ring. They have been trafficking women out of the country, especially in India for a long time.”

Poor and young women were their main target. The women were lured by promising attractive jobs abroad, but later they were forced into prostitution by the gang, the official said.

“The gang has been trafficking women across borders including Jhaudanga, Kalaroa, Satkhira, Benapole, and Jessore with the help of other gang members,” he added.

The ASP also said that the fugitive members of the gang would be tracked down.
