The Kalurghat-bound ramp of the MA Mannan flyover, at the Bahaddarhat area of Chittagong, has reopened.
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.
He said no vehicle over eight feet in height will be able to use the ramp. “It is only safe for light and medium vehicles.”
Earlier on November 2, a probe team of CCC inspected the spot and concluded that there were no cracks in the pillars of the ramp.
Inspection team member Prof Dr Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, also director of CUET Institute of Earthquake Engineering Research, confirmed that they found no cracks. “We scrutinized the reported area of the column and found nothing.”

On October 25, a man named Muhammad Mohiuddin posted a photo on a Facebook group named “Praner Chittagong,” which showed a crack in a pillar on the Arakan Road ramp of the MA Mannan Flyover.
Later, the photo went viral on social media. After verifying the authenticity of the post, police stopped traffic on the ramp to prevent an accident.
On October 26, the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) reported that excessive traffic had caused fractures in the ramp pillars at Bahaddarhat.
However, Mahfuzur Rahman, executive engineer (Project) of CDA, said in the same evening that there were no fractures. “This is only a rumour."
On October 27, a team of experts from Design Planning and Management (DPM) evaluated the pillars and discovered no fractures as well.
