Road accidents claim 3 lives in Dinajpur

At least three people were killed and four were injured in separate road accidents in Ghoraghat and Parbatipur upazilas of Dinajpur on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Akhter Hossain, 38, Shahjahan Ali, 71, and Ashraf Ali, 35, reports Bangla Tribune.

Witnesses said a pick-up van coming from Joypurhat rammed into a bicycle on Parbatipur-Fulbari road in Sherpur area of Parbatipur upazila around 12:30pm, leaving bicyclist Shahjahan dead on the spot.

Moreover, a pick-up van passenger, Ashraf, died on the spot and two others were injured as the vehicle turned over on the road after hitting the bicycle.

Abul Bashar, sub-inspector of Bhabanipur police investigation centre, said they recovered two bodies from the spot and handed them over to their families.

Meanwhile, a Rajshahi-bound pick-up truck hit another truck, which was parked beside Dinajpur-Gobindaganj Regional Highway, in Birahimpur area of Ghoraghat upazila, leaving pick-up truck driver Akhter dead on the spot and two others, including his assistant, injured.

On information, police and fire service members recovered the body and took the injured to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex, said Ghoraghat police station OC Abu Hasan.
