At least 15 people were injured in a clash between the bride and groom parties reportedly over not serving green chilli and salad with food at a wedding in Patuakhali's Kanakdia union on Tuesday afternoon.
Kankadia Union Parishad Chairman Shaheen Hawladar said the clash was triggered by the absence of green chilli and salad alongside the main course.
Two seriously injured people were sent to Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Others are undergoing treatment at Bauphal Upazila Health Complex.
The clash took place at the wedding of Mehedi Hasan, the son of Md Nizam Mia, and Baku Fakir's daughter were getting married.
On Tuesday afternoon, the groom's party went to the bride's house with the bridegroom for the ceremony. However, when they sat down to eat, they noticed the absence of green chilli and salad on the menu, despite fish, meat and chicken being served. Subsequently, the groom's side requested green chilli and salad.
Then an argument ensued between the two parties, leading to a clash that lasted approximately three hours.
Baga police outpost Sub-Inspector Md Sohail said the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Bauphal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arichul Haque said at night that no party has come forward with a complaint so far.
