Death toll from Narayanganj oil tanker blast rises to 4

The death toll from an oil tanker explosion in the Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj's Rupganj on June 4 has risen to four with another victim succumbing to his injuries. 

Md Sohel, 38, son of late Tayzul Islam, of Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar upazila, died while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Sunday morning, Resident Surgeon Md Tariqul Islam said.

Some 45% of the surface area of his body was burnt.

One person is still receiving treatment at the hospital, the surgeon added. 

Earlier, three people injured in the same explosion named Tazul Islam Lion, 22, Humayun Kabir, 54, and Md Rubel, 38, died from their burn injuries. 

At least eight people sustained burn injuries in the fire caused by the explosion. 

Five of them were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in critical condition following the explosion on June 4.
