Police recover 28 stolen mobile phones in Rangamati

The Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell of Rangamati District Police recovered 28 stolen mobile phones and handed those over to the rightful owners.

Under the direction of Rangamati District Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid and supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Shahnewaz Raju, the phones lost in different places of Rangamati were recovered by the Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell of district police on Tuesday. 

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mohammad Shah Imran handed those over to the real owners.

Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shah Imran urged everyone to refrain from buying old electronic devices (mobile, laptop, tab).

He said: “Even if you buy these old devices, you should buy it with proper proof. Otherwise, if these old devices have been used in the past to commit any cognizable offence, then the current user may be at risk. That is why everyone is specially requested to be aware about buying old electronic devices (mobile, laptop, tab) after checking them well.”

The Cyber Crime Monitoring Cell of the district police has so far managed to recover 136 lost mobile phones with the efforts of the superintendent of police. The estimated market value of the devices is Tk27.20 lakh.

While receiving the mobile phones, the victims expressed their satisfaction to get back their lost mobile phones and expressed their gratitude to the Rangamati District Police including the superintendent of police.
