A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) candidate committed suicide allegedly due to fear of participating in the exams in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha, on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as, Kabya, 16, son of Shree Liton Sarkar, a trader in the area.
Family members said he committed suicide by hanging as he was afraid to take part in the tests.
His relatives said Kabya and his twin Tirtha were supposed to take part in the SSC examinations. Suddenly Kabya refused to participate in the exam. He became very upset when his parents got angry regarding the matter. Later Kabya committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.
Gobindaganj police station Officer-in-Charge Izar Uddin said: “On information, police recovered the body and allowed the burial to proceed following the request of family members and locals as there was no complaint.”
It is initially believed that Kabya committed suicide due to the fear of taking exams, he added.
