Several houses gutted in Rohingya camp fire

A fire broke out at a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya upazila on Friday.

The incident took place in Lambashia 2-East Rohingya camp at around 10pm.

Two firefighting units from Ukhiya Fire Service and Civil Defence managed to douse the blaze at around 11:30pm, said Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Haroon Or Rashid, commander of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn-14).

At least 10-12 houses and two NGO learning centres have been gutted in the fire, the officer said.

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
