Tourist dies while bathing on Cox’s Bazar beach

A tourist died while taking bath at Laboni Point of Cox's Bazar beach Tuesday noon.

The deceased is Mohammad Shahjahan, 40, son of Abdul Khalek, a resident of Sholokbahar area of Panchlaish police station in Chittagong city.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar Tourist Police Molla Mohammad Shaheen said: “On Tuesday morning, Mohammad Shahjahan came to visit Cox's Bazar with his family members. At noon they bathed in the sea at Laboni Point of the beach.” 

“At one point, Shahjahan took the tube and went some distance to the sea. At one point, the tube fell from Shah Jahan's hand and he was swept away. Local lifeguard personnel immediately rescued him in a state of unconsciousness,” he added.

Later, when Shahjahan was brought to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead, said the additional superintendent of police.

He added that the body of the deceased is in Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue.
