Police: Rajshahi man killed daughter to frame neighbour

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has solved a murder mystery after 18 years where a father killed his own daughter to frame his neighbour in Rajshahi.

Rajshahi PBI Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad revealed the mystery of the sensational murder at a press conference at the Rajshahi PBI office on Tuesday afternoon.

He said that on June 10, 2004, a 13-year-old girl was brutally hacked to death in Lakshinagar village in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi. The child's father, Aksed Ali Sikder, filed a murder case at Bagha police station mentioning the names of 20 people.

Aksed Ali Sikdar had been in conflict with the neighbouring Molla family for a long time. Unable to get along with them, he planned to kill his own child. Later, he blamed the murder on the Molla family. And the trial of the case was going on in the court for a long time. After almost a decade and a half, the PBI investigation cracked the mystery.

The Additional SP also told the press conference that during the trial of this case, the court sensed that the chargesheet was filed against people who were not actually involved in the murder. So it is necessary to re-investigate and identify the real culprit. That is why the court allowed the PBI to re-investigate the murder case.

Later, the PBI investigation revealed that none other than Aksed Ali Sikdar had killed his own daughter to frame his rival.

But Aksed Ali died in 2019. His two wives Bhayela Bewa, 65, and Afia Bewa, 60, appeared in court last Sunday and gave a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

At that time, they told the court that they did not tell the truth before because of fear of their husband.

Meanwhile, in the statement of the case, it was said that Aksed was sitting with his two wives and daughter around 11pm on the day of the incident. Some 50-60 people were suddenly coming towards the house with weapons, the two wives asked him to run away. When Aksed Ali escaped, his opponents hacked his 13-year-old daughter to death. In this case, 20 people from the opposing Molla family of the same village were accused.

The murder case was first investigated by the police. Later the case was handed over to the Detective Branch for further investigation. After the investigation, the DB filed a charge sheet against 20 people in the court on November 30, 2004. Later, the trial in the case started in Rajshahi's Public Security Crime Suppression Court.

In May 2022, the PBI was tasked to re-investigate the case after the court had doubts after a long trial. Later, Rajshahi PBI Sub-Inspector (SI) Khairul Islam investigated the case.
