Nine persons including Dhandia UP Chairman Jahangir Alam have been arrested over attacking RAB-6 members of Satkhira unit who were catching an absconding accused in Panchpara area of Patkelghata police station in Satkhira.
Union BNP President Alam Sardar escaped with RAB's handcuffs.
In a press release on Sunday, Satkhira unit of RAB-6 said that on Saturday, RAB-6 officials carried out a raid at Panchpara area of Patkelghata police station to collect information about the absconding accused.
While inquiring about the absconding accused in the area, a man raised doubts about the identity of the RAB members and some local activists gathered around them. RAB members showed ID card while wearing RAB jacket. However, some local miscreants claimed it a fake raid leading to a conflict between the RAB officials and locals.
Meanwhile RAB patrol team entered the area and took control of the situation and Dhandia UP Chairman Md Jahangir Alam, 46, Md Sohag Sardar, 28, Md Kabirul Islam, 39, Md Aminul Islam, 37, Md Afzal Khan, 58, Sohan Sardar, 19, Shahidul Islam Bablu, 55, Md Rafiqul Islam, 38, and Md Azgar Ali, 18, were arrested.
RAB said that the matter of filing a case against the arrested miscreants and absconding miscreant is under process.
