Composite factory catches fire in Gazipur

A fire broke out at a composite factory in Boherachala area of Gazipur's Sreepur upazila on Tuesday.

The fire originated around 12:30pm at Shahrish Composite Factory of Bismillah Group, said Iftekhar Hossain Raihan, station officer of Mawna fire service.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and are trying to douse the flame. 

There is machinery and wastage (cotton) in the building where the fire broke out. The fire spread to the entire building within moments. 

However, there were no workers in the building.

Assistant General Manager (AGM) of the factory Shafiqul Islam said that the fire service was informed as soon as the fire broke out, but they reached the factory 45 minutes late.  By that time, the fire engulfed the entire building.

The fire service official said as soon as they were informed, they went out with force. 

“There is not enough system to supply hyden and water in the factory. Even though the road is narrow, we reached the scene very quickly,” he added.
