Police on Saturday night discovered a video that went viral on social media of a man and his stepson being beaten up in a schoolroom over the alleged rape of his nine-year-old daughter in Faridpur.
On the afternoon of March 17, the father, 40, and his stepson, 14, were thrashed in a room of a government primary school over the alleged rape in Jahapur union of Madhukhali upazila.
Later, Madukhali police went to the spot and rescued the father and son and brought them to the police station.
Madukhali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shahidul Islam said that the preliminary investigation found the truth of the allegations against the 14-year-old of raping his stepsister. However, no evidence was found of the father raping the daughter.
The father filed a case on March 21 accusing his stepson of raping his stepsister. The police sent the boy to jail through the court the following day.
Besides, a physical examination of the child was conducted and she also gave a statement in court.
The man filed another case on the same day for the assault in the classroom. In this case, the names of three people were mentioned and seven-eight others were shown as unknown accused. The police later arrested Md Qutub, one of the accused in the case.
Besides, the police were able to identify eight people from the video.
Madhukhali police said that efforts are underway to arrest them.
