The Islamic University (IU) authorities on Sunday formed a four-member probe body to investigate the leaked conversation, which went viral on social media, between IU Registrar HM Ali Hasan and a contractor.
This information was disclosed in a circular signed by Assistant Registrar Md Moniruzzaman Mollah.
The four-member probe body was formed with the university's business administration faculty dean, Professor Md Saiful Islam, as the convener and Deputy Registrar Alibuddin Khan as the member secretary.
Other members of the committee are Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall Provost Professor Dr Miah Md Rashiduzzaman and Islamic University Teachers' Association (IUTA) General Secretary Professor Tapan Kumar Godder.
On Tuesday, an audio recording of a conversation between the registrar and a contractor was leaked from a Facebook account called Sathi Khatun, which went viral on social media.
The leaked audio clip contained four separate call recordings through which a contractor promised HM Ali Hasan a total of Tk4 lakh for assisting him in some job.
The audio clip also revealed their discussion about when and how the money would be transacted.
At the start of the conversation, the contractor identified himself as Main from ECL Company. Then they discussed when and how the registrar would be paid.
At that time, HM Ali Hasan told him to give his money at 3pm.
The contractor told HM Ali Hasan that it will take time to get the money from the bank so he can pay HM Ali Hasan around 4:30-5pm.
During the whole conversation, HM Ali Hasan warned the contractor not to talk about money transactions during the call.
In view of this incident, the acting registrar filed a general diary at the IU police station last Wednesday.
