Abdullah Al Mamun Raza, 45, one the deceased in the bus accident in the Kutubpur area in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur, came to his home in Khulna on Thursday night to spend the weekend.
His father Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that Raja was the principal officer of Pubali Bank's Moghaltully branch in Dhaka. He used to go to Khulna during weekends like this for the last three months.
He said: “Raja left home for Dhaka at 5am. At about 10am, his office called to inform that Raja had not went to office.
“Then when Raja's number was dialled, someone told me that his bus had met with an accident. After that I found out about his death,” he added.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali's eldest son Abdullah Al Masud Rana then went to bring the body. The body will be buried at Vasupara cemetery after Esha prayer.
He said: “Raja has a son named Abdullah Al Mubin Rafi. Raja was in Dhaka for 22 years. He was trying to get transferred to Khulna. So, he brought his son to Khulna this year and enrolled him in Paul Reverend School.”
Mourning her son's death, Nurunnahar said that now Raja would never return home on Thursday nights.
She exclaimed: “Raja was going to get a new home and take us there. What has happened now!”
The bus of Emad Paribahan leaving from Khulna at around 7:30am on Sunday lost control and fell down the expressway in Qutubpur area of Shibchar.
