Products worth 1C gutted in Gazipur yarn factory fire

Products worth Tk1 crore were gutted in a fire that broke out at a yarn factory in Gazipur's Sreepur area on Tuesday morning, the owner has claimed. 

According to the factory owner, Nazrul Islam, three yarn machines, Tk1,000,000 worth of raw materials, were burnt to ashes.

He said the blaze has cost him Tk1 crore in damages. 

The incident took place at around 7:30am at “Bismillah Cottage” factory.

Two firefighting units from Mauna Fire Service and Civil Defence managed to bring the blaze under control after one hour of frantic efforts. 

Mauna fire service Inspector Abdul Mannan said the fire may have started from the yarn machines' motors.

Yarn machines, one compressor, and around Tk1,000,000 worth of products were destroyed in the fire. “However, the actual amount of the damage could not be confirmed yet.”
