Faridpur police on Saturday rescued a 19-year-old from a brother at the Rathkhola area after receiving a call on the national helpline 999.
The call was received by Inspector Anwar Sattar, the focal person (media) of the National Emergency Service 999.
Anwar Sattar on Sunday said the woman had left the house for her boyfriend a month ago.
However, he left her and ran away. The woman then requested a rickshaw puller to take her to a cheap hotel for the night, the officer said.
“But the rickshaw driver sold her to the brothel. She was forced into prostitution against her will for a month. When she refused, she was beaten” he added.
“Later, the woman called 999 using a customer's mobile phone. A team from Kotwali police station rushed to the spot after receiving the call. They rescued the girl and brought her to the police station,” he said.
Legal measures are underway in this regard, he added.
